"Radiate" is a continuation of the concepts we began exploring with our previous piece “Blur.” It uses hundreds of addressable LEDs and a microcontroller programmed with
custom code to create continuously evolving patterns of light from behind an extremely diffuse screen, blurring the individual points of light into a uniform field of color. The patterns the lights display are tailored to be responsive to the round shape of the port-hole like window, “radiating” out from the center, and responding to user input from the interactive controls, which influence the hue, intensity, and general behavior of the display.
