In April 2024, a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America reached out to us about a possible escape room puzzle console after finding our Etsy Shop online. We'd never done anything of the sort before, with the closest thing being some experience tinkering with coding for fun. We believed we could do it, though, and we did!

 

The result was a puzzle console with the ability to enter 7 different codes that the particpants of the conference gathered from other clues around the desert-island-themed escape room. This included: coordinates along a light matrix,  RGB color combinations in a row of lights, positions along rotary switches, cable connections, slider switches connected to a number panel, on-off combinations within a set of square self-illuminating lights, and a 5-digit mechanical counter. Once all the codes have been entered correctly, a launch switch activates the audio message from 'headquarters' announcing help is on the way.
