Where can I purchase a WonderSynth?

WonderSynth is live on Kickstarter June 2 — July 1, 2026! Click here to support the project and/or pre-order your own WonderSynth on Kickstarter!

How long does the battery last?

I still don't know!!!

I have been playing with the prototype almost daily for several weeks and it still hasn't run out. Either way a very long time, and of course it is rechargeable.

Do I need any extra equipment to use this?

Not at all!

It is compatible with many types of external music equipment, and if you plan to use it with headphones you will need to provide your own, but with a built-in speaker and battery, there's not need to plug it in to anything at all!

Just take it out of the box and turn it on.

When will I receive my Synth???

My goal is to have the first shipment go out by August 31, 2026.

Depending on how many are preordered, it may take several more weeks after that for all units to ship, but I will make every effort to ensure that everyone receives their WonderSynth well ahead of the holiday season.

Can I save my favorite sounds?

Not as such— patch memory is one of the features I intentionally omitted to keep the interface as simple and approachable as possible.

However, there will be included a booklet with charts that will allow you to mark the positions of the 6 knobs so you can manually recall that sound. Like they did it back in the day.

Is it a good instrument for a child?

Yes!!!! My elementary- and middle-school aged students are one of the biggest inspirations behind the WonderSynth.

I have had some of my students "beta test" the synth and I have to say it's a pretty big hit with the kids, I have had to pry several of them away from it.

Of course, to be clear, it is not a toy— while the construction is robust, it is sensitive to drops, rough handling, and water, like any musical instrument. And small parts always represent a choking hazard with very young children, so we must recommend discretion on that basis.

But if there is a child in your life who is interested in music or sound in any way, and who is old enough to responsibly care for a musical instrument, WonderSynth will absolutely be a wonderful gift for them.

Do I need musical experience to play this?

Kind of??

Of course the main input method is a keyboard, so some piano skills will definitely help.

However, the beauty of WonderSynth, and synths in general, is that so much of the experience is about exploration. Even with no musical experience, you can hold down a single key or group of keys, and just start turning knobs! (Hint: stick to the black keys at first.) You'll be surprised at the exciting sounds that come out.

How big is WonderSynth?

It's about 15" wide, 10" front-to-back, and 3" high
